  • THE FULTON COUNTY WATER AUTHORITY IS ACCEPTING SIGN-UPS FOR A RURAL WATER EXPANSION TO PRE-DETERMINE UNDER-SERVED AREAS.  THESE AREAS INCLUDE THE ELIZABETH ROAD NORTH TO GEPP,  EAST TOWARD VIOLA ON 62/412,  AND HWY 9 NORTH FROM CAMP EAST TO THE MYATT CREEK.  ADDTL LINES INCLUDED IN THE SIGN-UP AREA WILL RUN ALONG COUNTY ROADS IN THE AREAS OF THE FLORA CEMETERY AND CRIPPLE CREEK ROADS WEST OF VIOLA, AND CAMP CREEK RIDGE, FORREST MIST AND KATYDID ROADS OFF HWY 9 IN CAMP.    POTENTIAL WATER USERS CAN SIGN-UP AT NAEC IN SALEM BETWEEN 9AM AND 4 PM MONDAY THRU FRIDAY.  POTENTIAL USERS WHO SIGN-UP EARLY WILL NEED TO PAY THE $150 PER-CONSTRUCTION FEE PLUS A $50 MEMBERSHIP FEE TO THE WATER AUTHORITY, AND A $100 CONNECTION FEE.  IF YOU WAIT TO SIGN-UP, THEN FEES TO CONNECT THE SYSTEM AFTER THE INITAL CONSTRUCTION BEGINS WILL BE A MINIMUM OF $732.38.  POSSIBLE PUBLIC MEETINGS OFFERING ANOTHER SIGN-UP OPPORUTNITY FOR THIS EXPANSION MAY BE HELD AT A FUTURE DATE.  A CONSTRUCTION TIME FRAME HAS NOT YET BEEN ESTABLSHED.  LANDOWNERS IN THESE AREAS AND POTENTIAL WATER USERS MAY STOP BY NAEC IN SALEM OR CALL THE FULTON COUTNY WATER AUTHORITY AT 895-3221 FOR MORE INFO.

  • THE ARKANSAS GAME AND FISH FOUNDATION ANNOUNCED THEIR 2018 ARKANSAS OUTDOOR HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES AND RECIPIENTS OF THE LEGACY AWARDS.  JIM HINKLE OF MOUNTAIN VIEW IS AMONG THE INDUCTEES INTO THE HALL OF FAME.  A FORMER AGFC COMMISSIONER, HINKLE SERVED 14 YEARS ON THE BOARD OF THE NATL WILD TURKEY FEDERATION, ULTIMATELY SERVING AS  PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL CHAPTER.  DURING THAT TIME, HE WORKED FOR THE EXPANSION AND IMPROVEMENT OF HABITAT THROUGHOUT THE US, MEXICO, AND CANADA THROUGH VARIOUS NWTF INITIATIVES.  THE SPRING RIVER FISH HATCHERY AT MAMMOTH SPRING WAS NAMED IN HIS HONOR.  THE NEW HONROEES WILL BE RECOGNIZED DURING THE 27TH ANNUAL OUTDOR HALL OF FAME BANQUET FRIDAY AUGUST 24TH AT THE STATEHOUSE CONVENTION CENTER IN LITTLE ROCK.

THE STORY OF THE OLD GALATIA CHURCH AND CEMETERY IS TOLD THROUGH RECORDED HISTORIES, NEWSPAPER STORIES, TOMBSTONES AND RESEARCH. THE CHURCH BUILDING WHICH IS ON THE ARKANSAS MOST ENDANGERED PLACES LIST HAS BEEN AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE COMMUNITY SINCE LONG BEFORE IT WAS DEEDED TO THE COMMUNITY IN 1886. A DEDICATED GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS IS WORKING TO SAVE THE BUILDING. THIS BOOK WOULD BE AN INVALUABLE AID TO ANYONE DOING GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH ON THE FAMILIES OF THE OZARKS. COST OF THE BOOK IS $30.
